NHSCA INDIVIDUAL NATIONAL RANKINGS

Released by Milesplit.com, recognized by The National High School Coaches Association

The US#1 slot still belongs to Edward Cheserek (St. Benedict's Prep, NJ), who set his 4th course record in as many weeks with a mind-blowing 14:34.6 clocking at the Brown Invitational in RI.  It is difficult to imagine anyone defeating Cheserek for the remainder of the season.  US#2 Futsum Zeinasellassie (IN) won his 3rd straight regional championship with a time of 15:04.6 and is the clear favorite to win the IN state title.  Also, winning streaks continue for US#12 Daniel Moore (FL) and US#15 Josh Brickell (GA).  New to the rankings this week at US#21 is Tim Ball (NJ) who ran 15:31 to win by nearly a minute at the XC Fall Classic.  Also, at US#22 is MacKenzie Morrison (UT) who won the 5A state title with a time of 15:22.4, and Brad Nye (UT) who is at US#23 after his runner-up finish in 5A with a time of 15:23.1..

Many athletes were idle, but there were a few big changes in the rankings this week.  US#1 Julie Macedo (DE) continues to assert her dominance as she won the Joe O'Neill Invite by 42 seconds over US#9 Haley Pierce (DE) with a time of 16:55.26.  US#19 Kelsey Braithwaite (UT) moves into the rankings with her course record setting performance to win the 4A title in 17:36.4.  Also in the rankings for the first time is US#20 Amanda Fox (IL) who ran 16:35.8 for 3 miles at her conference meet.
