NHSCA, XCNATION.Com Announce Partnership Agreement To Promote High School Cross Country

XCNation

The National High School Coaches Association (NHSCA) has established a partnership with XCNATION.com to provide unprecedented visibility for the sport of cross country in the United States.

Founded by twin brothers Aron and David Taylor and based in Lewiston, Idaho, XCNATION.com has a unique mission among cross country sites: to honor, promote and recognize the estimated 500,000 high school student-athletes who compete in cross country, and ranking the nation’s top boys and girls high school teams using its benchmark National Power Poll, while chronicling the long and glorious history of the sport.

“Cross country is a sport we have long wanted to increase our involvement with, and XCNATION.com is the perfect partner to make that happen,” NHSCA executive director Bob Ferraro Jr. said. “Not only will this partnership develop and promote the sport, it will provide many exciting developments for coaches and athletes. High school coaches and athletes will gain the ability for official national recognition.

“What has really stood out to us is the passion that Aron and David Taylor have for the sport. They understand the sacrifices runners make to be the best they can be. Their focus is on the coaches and the athletes, as is ours. This is a win-win for high school cross country.”

“We’re moving forward as the national voice for high school cross country,” said Aron Taylor, who will become the NHSCA’s National Director for High School Cross Country. “We’re all about the coaches and the athletes. The NHSCA’s mission matches ours perfectly.”

Among the highlights of the NHSCA’s partnership with XCNATION.com:

NHSCA to designate XCNATION.com as national governing arm for high school cross country

XCNATION.com will assume instrumental decision making for National High School Hall of Fame designation, National Championship recognition, promoting the sport of high school cross country through NHSCA platforms, and networking cross country coaches nationwide for an official national coaches poll within XCNATION.com’s National Power Poll.

NHSCA National High School Cross Country Rankings

XCNATION.com will develop and release the NHSCA National Cross Country Rankings presented by XCNATION.com. Rankings will be based upon in-season performances culminating with state high school championships, utilizing the dynamic XCNATION.com National Power Poll methodology with the addition of a coaches vote.

Awarding NHSCA National High School Team Cross Country Champion

On December 1, 2011, XCNATION.com will present the NHSCA National High School Team Cross Country Championship, with the winning boys and girls teams to be announced and recognized at the national championship awards ceremony.

National High School Cross Country Hall of Fame

It will be a home for national historical recognition of national championship individuals and teams, noteworthy cross country achievements, and highlights of the century-long history of the sport of cross country, as compiled by XCNATION.com.

“This is the perfect vehicle for XCNATION.com to present the history of high school cross country,” Aron Taylor added. “David and I have always had the utmost respect for the history of the sport. That’s the problem with so many marketing companies today – they’re more concerned about what’s good for them than about what’s good for the sport. They don’t respect history. That’s wrong. Our history matters. With the creation of the National High School Hall of Fame, the NHSCA is showing that they’re different. They share our respect for the history of high school sports.”
