Also on the show: Mike Plunkett of the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association talking about the organization's 100th anniversary and Aron Taylor of XCnation.com, who releases the latest cross country national rankings.

On this edition of the NHSCA Sports Hour, host Jeff Fisher talks with Dafydd Evans, head coach of boys' soccer at DeMatha High School in Maryland.  The Stags aer currently ranked #3 by ESPN HS after snapping Sacramento Jesuit's 70-match unbeaten streak on October 1st.  Also on the show, XCnation.com co-founder David Taylor, who is a Staff Sergeant in the Marines serving in Afghanistan.  Taylor has helped coach two state championships in boys' cross country in three states.

September 22, 2011 Gwen Egbert of America's top-ranked girls' volleyball team joins host Jeff Fisher on this edition of the NHSCA Sports Hour.  Egbert led Papillion La Vista South High School (Nebraska) to a perfect 41-0 mark last year, winning the 2010 national championship, according to MaxPreps.com.  Egbert returns five starters from her 2010 team, and began the 2011 season ranked #1 in the nation.  Also on the show is Eric Stratman, director of the Gateway Soccer Classic, which features 60 high school boys' soccer teams from 13 different states.  The tournament will be played September 29th through October 1st, in-and-around the St. Louis area.

On this edition of the NHSCA Sports Hour, host Jeff Fisher talks with two of America's top high school cross country runners.  First, you'll be introduced to Cami Chapus of Harvard-Westlake HS in California, followed by an interview with Lukas Verzbicas, who had just captured the gold medal in the triathlon at the Junior World Championships in China.  Verzbicas, a Sandburg HS (Illinois) grad, is a two-time national boys' cross country high school champ having won the 2009 and 2010 Foot Locker Cross Country Championships.  The show wraps-up with Byron Jenson of the High School Rudy Awards and the Inspireum Soccer Awards.

The Christian Brothers Academy (New Jersey) boys' cross country team hasn't lost a dual meet since 1973.  On this episode of the NHSCA Sports Hour, host Jeff Fisher talks with head coach Tom Heath, who has built the small school into a major cross country power with a 309 meet win streak.  Also on the show is Paul Rose, head boys' soccer coach at Jesuit High School in Sacramento.  Rose is California's winningest boys' soccer coach with 631 wins, and his team is currently ranked #1 in many preseason polls.

In this episode of the NHSCA Sports Hour, host Jeff Fisher talks with Miller Bugliari, head boys soccer coach at Pingry School in New Jersey.  Bugliari has been at the school for over 50 years and is one of the nation's winningest soccer coaches with 751 victories heading into this season.  Also on the show is Brad Cashman, executive director of the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association.  Cashman, who will retire at the end of the 2010-11 school year looks back on his nearly two decades as the leader of the PIAA.  Jeff's third guest is Roy Sturgill of We Wanna Play, a non-profit organization that is helping Kentucky student-athletes in Franklin County with participation fees.  For more information, go to www.wewannaplay.org.

Two legendary boys' basketball coaches join Jeff Fisher on this edition of the NHSCA Sports Hour.  Bob Hurley of St. Anthony's HS (Jersey City, NJ) and Jack Curran of Archbishop Molloy HS (Queens, NY) have a combined 90-plus years of experience at their two schools.  Hurley has won over 1,000 games in his career; Curran has won over 900 games.  Also on the show is Bobby DeBerry, head wrestling coach at Sunnyside High in Tucson, AZ.  Sunnyside has won a national record 314 straight matches.

January 30, 2011 Kenai Central (Kenai, Alaska) High School’s Hope Steffensen will re-live her 103-pound Alaska Class 4A state wrestling championship that she won last month.

Steffensen, who is nominated for the NHSCA/GTM Sportswear Athlete of the Month Award, joins Michaela Hutchinson of Skyview High School in Alaska as the only girls to win a state championship in boys wrestling.


Former NFL quarterback Gus Frerotte, who was just hired as the head football coach at John Burroughs School in St. Louis. The former Pro Bowl quarterback will talk about his decision to go back to the roots of the game.


Big 33 Executive Director Dave Trimbur - The Big 33 All-Star Football game in Hershey, Pennsylvania is considered one of the premier high school football all-star games in the country. One interesting fact about the game…every Super Bowl has featured at least one player who played in the Big 33 game.

January 23, 2011 Gus Frerotte, former NFL quarterback , who was just hired as the head football coach at John Burroughs School in St. Louis.  The former Pro Bowl quarterback will talk about his decision to go back to the roots of the game. 2010 High School Rudy Award winner Chance Anthony ofBreckinridge County High School (Hardinsburg, KY).  Anthony is an inspirational athlete, who plays football and basketball in spite of the fact that he was born without the lower part of his right arm. David Boyd, Milton High School (Milton, GA) head boys basketball coach  who’s team is ranked #5 in the latest USA Today Super 25 poll.  Last week, the Eagles, who are Georgia’s defending AAAAA champs, feature several Division I recruits. Blair Academy (Blairstown, NJ) wrestling coach Jeff Buxton, has led the Buccaneers to 30 consecutive National Prep titles.

November 28, 2010 An interview with Easton High School (Easton, PA) Head Football Coach Steve Shiffert, who will have just led his team through three football games in the span of nine days, including the 104th meeting against archrival Phillipsburg (Phillipsburg, NJ) for the Thanksgiving Day Game.  In April 2009, the Easton P’Burg rivalry was highlighted by being the first Gatorade Replay Game, which restages classic games of various sports between the biggest high school rivalries in the United States.

October 24, 2010 Mark Bendorf is the Head Varsity Football Coach at J. W. Robinson High School located in Fairfax, Virginia. Coach Bendorf is in his 14th season leading the Ram program. He has an overall record of 126-34 and led Robinson to Virginia State 6a titles in 1997 & 2001. Mark has been named state "Coach of the Year" several times and was inducted into the Fairfax County Football Hall of Fame in 2008.
October 17, 2010 Coach Walker is the Head Varsity Football Coach at Sandy Creek High School located in Tyrone, Georgia.  Coach Walker is in his sixth season of leading the Patriots' program. He has an overall record of 52-15 and has led the Patriots every year  to the state playoffs winning  two regional titles (2008 & 09) and one State Championship , The Georgia AAAA State title in 2009 . This season the Patriots are competiting in the AAA class.
October 10, 2010 Charlie Ragle, Head Varsity Football Coach at Chaparral High School located in Scottsdale, Arizona.  Coach Ragle is in his fourth season leading the Firebirds and he has a record of 42-6. August 15, 2010 Steve Keszler, Head Wrestling Coach at Sturgis Brown High School (Sturgis, South Dakota) will be our guest this evening.  Over the past 16 season, he has guided the Scoopers to nine South Dakota’s Class A State Championships; most recently doing so this past season.  Sturgis Brown High School holds several state records.  Coach Keszler carries a career record of 278-37.
July 25, 2010 Don Owens is the Head Wrestling Coach at University High School in Spokane, Washington.  The 2010 proved to be a stellar one for the University Titans, boasting the 4A Team State Championship.  The Titan’s winning margins increased throughout the postseason.  This season

May 16, 2010 This week’s guest is Michael Angelidis, Head Boy’s Basketball Coach at Kenwood High School, located in Covington, Washington.  Coach Angelidis has led the Conquerors to the 2010 AAAA State Basketball Championships.  This year marks the end of his 4 year tenure at Kenwood with a record of 74-24.
May 9, 2010 Head Wrestling Coach at Skutt Catholic High School, Brad Hilderbrandt, will be visiting us on the NHSCA Internet Radio.  Coach Hilderbrandt has completed his 17th year in control of the Skyhawks wrestling team.  He has a career dual meet record of 131-17.  The Skyhawks also have taken home a Class B Individual State Title since 1997.  That’s 13 straight years!
April 25, 2010 Tom Crowell, Head Boy’s Basketball Coach from Springbrook High School in Silver Springs, Maryland will be our guest.  Coach Crowell just finished his fifth season as the Blue Devil’s Head Coach.  He has lead the team to 3 straight Maryland AAAA State Championships (2008-2010).  His impressive career record at Springbrook is 114-13. 
April 11, 2010 Our guest this week, David Bailey, has been the Head Boy’s Basketball Coach at Winter Park High School in Winter Park, Florida for the past four season. During the 2009-2010 season, the Wildcats recorded a 28-6 season record; bringing Coach Bailey to a 107-28 career record. This was the first season Winter Park captured the illusive 6A State Title. March 28, 2010 Aurora, Colorado’s Regis Jesuit High School’s Head Boy’s Basketball Coach Ken Shaw will be discussing this past season tonight.  Coach Shaw finished his third seasons at Jesuit, with a career record of 72-9 at Regis Jesuit.  Coach Shaw’s Raiders team has won back to back 5A State Championships in 2009 and 2010.  Coach Shaw is no stranger to success, as he has won several league and state titles over his illustrious 35 career with a 585-203 overall career record.
March 21, 2010 Brian Richardson, Head Wrestling Coach at Rockford High School (Rockford, Michigan) just completed his first season as the head coach.  Rockford has won their seventh straight conference title.  Under Richardson’s direction, the Rams won their District and Region.  They were the Michigan Division I State Runner Up at the Individual State Tournament.  Richardson ended his inaugural year with a season record of 22-6. 
March 7, 2010 Head Boy’s Basketball Coach at Christ School, located in Asheville, North Carolina, David Gaineswill be our guest.  Coach Gaines has led the Greenies to their fourth consecutive NC Independent School State Championship.  Their final record for the year was 37-1, bringing Coach Gaines’ career record to 320-69 over his twelve years in the sport.
February 28, 2010 Coach Dale Mueller is the Head Varsity Football Coach at Highlands High School in Fort Thomas, Kentucky.  Coach Mueller lead the Bluebirds to their ninth state title during his 15 seasons in charge of the program .  Mr. Mueller has an overall record of 197-44.  The school's athletic website is Click Here to go to the Highlands website.

January 24, 2010 Bill Barger, Head Wrestling Coach at Walsh Jesuit High School in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.  Coach Barger led the Warriors for over 30 years, through two different stints.  Under his reign, Walsh has lead the Warriors to eight Ohio State Championships and four straight National Crowns from 1993-1996.  Coach Barger is credited with creating the Ironman Tournament, one of the nation’s premier in-season tournaments.  Click Here to go to Walsh Jesuit’s website.

Tim Mathews is the Head Wrestling Coach at Bishop Lynch High School, located in Dallas, Texas.  Mathews has been in control of the Friars for the past 17 seasons.  Coach Mathews has produced 77 individual state titles with close to 200 dual victories.  They will be wrestling this weekend against the Nation’s best, (Blair Academy (NJ), Easton (PA), Collins Hill (GA) at the 2010 NHSCA Final Four of High School Wrestling. 

January 10, 2010 Carmine Colace will be joining us this week on the Internet Talk Radio.  Coach Colace has been the leader of the Franklin High School Panther Wrestling Team for 27 years.  He has had unparalleled success highlighting eight Division 2 State Titles and 5 times as State Runner-Ups.  The Franklin team went undefeated in the 2009 season.  Coach Colace is narrowing in on his 400th career victory.Click Here to go to the Franklin Wrestling Website.

Steve Powell, Head Coach at Easton Area High School, has led the Rovers for 26 years.  He has amassed over 400 career victories.  The Red Rovers are no stranger to success, as they have one of the most successful programs nationally.  To list a couple accomplishments: 6 time Reno Tournament of Champions, 16 Manheim Holiday Classic Champions, Multiple State Team and Individual State Championships.  They have a streak of their own, 63 years of having a District Champion in the competitive District 11 Tournament. Click Here to go to the Easton Wrestling Website.
January 3, 2010 Cliff Ramos, Head Wrestling Coach at Collins Hill High School will be speaking to us about their upcoming appearance the NHSCA Final Four.  Coach Ramos has led the Eagles for the past 16 seasons.  The Eagles have finished in the top ten in Georgia's largest classification fifteen consecutive years.   Recent highlights include: 5 time Georgia State Champions, 3 time State Runner-Ups, and 3 time George Team State Championships. Click Here to go to the Collins Hill Website.

John Gardner, Head Wrestling Coach at High Point Regional High School, in Sussex, New Jersey will also be joining us.  He is presently in his 12th season leading the Wildcats to several league, district and one state crown in 2008.  High Point continually produces top wrestlers both in the state of New Jersey and nationally.
